Services
Gesù Catholic Church offers services to our parishioners in these two different areas: Spiritual Growth and Social Services The following are the services the parish offers.
CCD Catholic Conference of Christian Doctrine
Children's CCD classes are on Saturday mornings from 10:00am to 11 :30am. The children's CCD religious instruction meets in the basement of the Church. Magda Robaina directs it. There are different groups according to the children's age and according to different sacramental preparation.
The CCD classes prepares our children for:
· Baptism
· First Communion
· Confirmation, and
for a more complete understanding of our faith.
Charismatic Group
This "alive in the spirit" group meets every Saturday from 1:00 pm through 3:00 pm. More than 30 members, men and women, meet in our basement to praise God with music and prayers. The group welcomes all new members and is opened to new participants.
Apostleship of Prayer
Men and women meet at Gesù Catholic Church to pray, plan apostolic activities and grow in the faith. This group meets every First Friday of the month at 4:00 pm in the Church. The meeting lasts for an hour and a half. Fr. Eduardo Alvarez meets with this group to pray with them and to explain a religious topic of interest to all.
Senior Citizen's Center
Every weekday more than 60 senior citizens have breakfast and lunch at Gesù's basement. Breakfast is served at 9:00 am and lunch is served at 12:00 midday.
Sister Julia Barreto supervises the Monday through Friday meal programs. At times more than 80 senior citizens visit our basement cafeteria. The Senior Citizen Center serves peoples from different parts of the city, all with low income and many living in government housing.
